IHI Forum: Comparing Lean and IHI's approach to Quality Improvement

Last week at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s annual Forum, my colleague Richard Scoville and I were joined by Diane Miller, Executive Director, Virginia Mason Institute and Vice President, Virginia Mason Medical Center. We summarized the comparison between Lean and the IHI’s approach to Quality Improvement (IHI-QI) that Richard and I discussed in the IHI whitepaper published in September, discussed on our blog here.

Diane spoke with deep insight about the application of the Toyota Production System at Virginia Mason that started in 2002. Thank you Diane!

Here’s the slide set we used at the Forum and a short description of Six Sigma, related to our presentation.
